His Benefits

People have asked me why I am a Christian, why I follow Christ and live a life of restriction. My response is that there is no better life to live then a life surrendered to Jesus Christ. It is a life of liberty not one of restriction.

In Psalm 103 we see that David begins the psalm with an exclamation of praise. This shows us his passion and enthusiasm for the Lord. After hearing such an exclamation many may have asked David the same question that has been asked of you and I, why was he so excited and passionate about the Lord? David tells us as he begins to list the Lord's benefits found in verses 3-5 "...who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."

Many of us take the time to consider the benefits that are associated with a job opportunity. We look at what kind of insurance the company offers and what the retirement package will be. A friend of mine recently accepted a job offer at a new company. When asked why he chose to leave his current job and move over to the new company his response was simple, "it is an increase in salary and the benefits package is better". He took the time to think about and consider the benefits of taking the new job offer. How often do we take the time to consider the benefits of living a surrendered life to Jesus Christ?

Take a moment today to meditate on His benefits:
  • He forgives all your iniquity
  • He heals all your diseases
  • He redeems your life from the pit
  • He crowns you with steadfast (firm in purpose, unwavering) love and mercy
  • He satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's
If you are already a Christ follower you will see that as you take time to meditate on His benefits you will experience the same passion and enthusiasm for the Lord that David had. If you are not already a Christ follower I challenge you to consider His benefits and make the choice today to join us in following Christ. He will forgive, heal, redeem, crown and satisfy you! Simply take a moment to say this prayer, "Jesus, forgive me for my sins, come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. I want to experience the blessings and benefits of living a life surrendered to you. Amen".
