Bible Reading Plan - 1 Samuel 2, Isaiah 47-48, Revelation 5-6
Offering Your Best (1 Samuel 2:12-17)
The Bible says in Romans 12:1 that we should present ourselves as a living sacrifice. God is asking for us, our bodies, our lives. This is the sacrifice that is holy and acceptable to our heavenly father but to many times we give him whatever we have left rather than giving him the first and the best.
In the Old Testament in 1 Samuel what was required of the people as a sacrifice to God was the best part of the animal. In this story however we see that the priests who were doing the sacrifices were keeping the best part and actually taking it from the people by force if they would not give it freely. When God looked down and saw that the people were no longer giving Him the best but keeping it back for themselves He was very displeased. So displeased was He that it says, "that the sin of the people was very Great in the eyes of the Lord."
Why was there sin so Great? It says that there sin was so great because they treated the offering/sacrifice of the Lord with contempt. We look at this and can see how awful this thing was that they did against the Lord, but how often do we treat the sacrifice that God wants us to bring with contempt? How often do we give Him the left overs of our lives? Or how often do we try to squeeze some time in for Him here in there.
God wants our best offering. He wants our best and most quality time. He wants us to live our lives for Him! He wants to spend time with you in conversation and let you know about your life and all the good things He has in store for you. I encourage you spend some quality time with God today give Him your best sacrifice and watch and see the joy that comes on your life today.
I would love to hear your feed back.
