What is next?

|
This week was interesting as Prop 8 in California was back at center stage. I do not need to go into details, as the majority of the U.S. knows exactly what it is all about. As I sat there and watched some of the discussion going back and forth about the issue the only thing that I kept thinking about is, "what is next"?

At some point there has to be a final say, there has to be something we go back to. Since this nation began, whether people want to agree with it or not, the thing we have gone back to has been what is Biblically acceptable and not culturally acceptable. As a nation we have been know around the world as a Christian Nation (Christian, meaning little Christ’s or Christ followers) and in order for this to be possible there is only one book that can give us the guidelines for being a Christian Nation, the Bible.

If we are to take the Bible at face value and do what a Christian Nation would do than we should leave Prop 8 alone and let things stand as is. The people of California have voted and it won with the majority vote. If we are to do what seems "culturally acceptable" than we are walking a scary path because culture is changing on average about every 8 months. This being the case we have to ask ourselves the question what is next?

What is the next wrong that we will fight to make right because we want to be accepted by society. What is the next issue we will face that will take away the voice of the majority vote and put it into the hands of a few ungodly secularly minded people. The fight is really not about Prop 8 the fight is about making things that are wrong - right so that people feel accepted into society. With this mentality though there is no telling where it will end.

All I can do is wonder, "what is next"?

Thanks for listening
