This past week was a crazy week for me as I was somewhat a single parent. Katie, my wife was more sick than I have seen her in a while so I did my best to let her rest and sleep in. This left me to keep my daily duties going as well as doing hers. If it was just the two of us it may not have been so complicated but once you throw a 4 and 6 year old into the picture it gets a bit overwhelming at times (I find myself praying a bit more for those single parents out there).
Needles to say I could not keep up with all the demands and my daughters room got more and more out of control.
One day my youngest daughter faith came out of her room and said, "I can't find my cash register" (which in her language sounds more like castrator, but that's another story). Trying to be superdad, I went in and looked for it but I was unable to find it amongst the mess that was covering every inch of her room. I told her I was unable to find it and said, "if we clean up your room we might just find it though".
So today was cleaning day and since Katie was feeling better we decided to make it a family project. So all four of us went in there and sure enough the girls watched while Katie and I cleaned. Halfway through our cleaning Katie found the cash register!!!!!! Faith was happy and played with if for the next hour.
As I sat back and reflected on our masterful cleaning job God said to me, "Yep that's the way all you humans are". Confused I asked God what He meant by this absurd statement and here is what He relayed to me.
We are all looking for our destiny and our dream, we often make the statement that my daughter made, "I cant find my dream". So we spend so much time in search of our dream, looking here and there and in this thing and that thing. We look and we look and we look when all the while what we need to be doing is cleaning.
Our dream is not somewhere over the rainbow way out there! Our dream is right in front of us but it has been cluttered by the junk we allow into our life. It is cluttered by careless decisons and even sin that we allow in. If we would stop complaining about how we can't find our dream and just start cleaning up our life I gaurantee you that we would find our dream right underneath the pile.
Thanks For listening
Dream Big
