Genesis 41, Mark 11, Job 7, Romans 11
I recently spoke with a friend who was discouraged about her destiny. What she really wanted to do was unusual and had not been done before. At times she gravitated towards safer paths that had already been clearly laid out for her to follow. Yet she couldn’t shake the passion that there was for this unique inspiration God had laid on her heart.
Joseph was a man who was given an unusual anointing from the Lord. From the very beginning he was having dreams from the Lord, even when he didn’t know how to use discretion in sharing them. He was thrown into a pit by his brothers because they did not receive his gift. Even when he used his gift in prison, he was forgotten about by the baker.
Although Joseph’s gift had been rejected and overlooked, God was working behind the scenes to set Joseph up. In the lowliest circumstances and situations, Joseph did not neglect to use what God had given him. He may have not been able to dance, sing or preach but he used what God gave him and that was to dream and interpret dreams.
Joseph was faithful in the small and God blessed him with much. As we read Genesis 41, Pharaoh calls Joseph out of jail to interpret a strange dream. God gave Joseph the interpretation and therefore Joseph was taken from the pit of prison and appointed into a very high position over all the land.
Proverbs 18:16 says "A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men." This is exactly what happened to Joseph. His gift made room for him and brought him before Pharaoh, which ultimately led him to his destiny. It was an unusual gift. It was a different anointing. It was probably not something he ever expected to lead to promotion, but yet because Joseph did not neglect his gift, God used it to bless him greatly.
You might feel like the gift that God has placed on your life is unusual, unique, or somewhat scary. Yet God has placed that gift in your life for a reason. If you are faithful with that gift even in the small, God will begin to work behind the scenes to set you up into your destiny. There is such a great joy and fulfillment comes when you begin to exercise your God given gift.
My favorite traveling speaker is Prophet Dick Mills. His ministry is anything but typical and is probably one of the most unique ministries I have ever seen. It is simple, powerful and out of the box. I am so glad that he decided to do what God had called him to do and not what had been done before. He has changed so many lives because he let his gift make room for himself.
Don’t worry that it has never been done before! Allow the creative gift God has given you to make room for itself!
Enjoy the journey,
Mel
