You have Been Enriched in Every Way
As I read through the Scriptures for today the verses in 1 Corinthians 1:5-9 really stood out to me. Paul wrote in verse 5, "For in him you have been enriched in every say -- in all your speaking and in your knowledge because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you." The Message puts it this way: "Just think -- you don't need a thing; you've got it all. All God's gifts are right in front of you."
These verses made me think of a popular worship song, "Enough." In case you don't know it, the words are:
"You are my supply, my breath of life,
Still more awesome than I know.
You are my reward, worth living for,
Still more awesome than I know.
All of you is more than enough for all of me.
For every thirst and every need.
You satisfy me with your love
And all I have in you is more than enough."
Do we actually realize the riches we have in the Lord? I think that sometimes we get so busy doing life that we forget what an awesome God we have, how much He loves us, and what He has provided for us. I know I don't always comprehend this.
We can see an example of God's meticulous caring for his people in other Scripture portions for today. (Gen. 47). When Joseph's family came to Egypt to live to escape the famine God had already supplied for them by sending Joseph ahead of them years and and years earlier. Oh, I know, Joseph was there because his brothers sold him into slavery, but Joseph himself said "God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on the earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance." (Gen. 45:7) When they settled in Egypt Joseph gave them property in the best part of the land. They weren't just eking out a living there, they got the best because God had provided for them ahead of time.
This reminds me of Rom. 8:28. "We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
God helped Mary to accept what He was asking of her by enabling her cousin, Elizabeth, to conceive miraculously after she was past the age of childbearing. I believe when Mary heard about Elizabeth she knew that nothing was impossible with God. In fact that's what she said in Luke 1:37) but I'm getting ahead into tomorrow's reading!)
Job understood this aspect of God maybe a little better than we do when he said, "Though he slay me, yet will I trust him ..........He also shall be my salvation." (Job 13:15-16 KJV) Job realized that he could put his complete trust in God and God would do only what was best for him even if he didn't understand it.
God has prepared enough for us and we have been enriched in every way. Maybe it's time we dig deeper into God and discover more of what he has for us.
