He Can Move Mountains
While reading Job 9, I thought of an old, old song that was sung in church when I was younger that says:
Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
He Can Move Mountains
While reading Job 9, I thought of an old, old song that was sung in church when I was younger that says:
Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains you can't tunnel through?
God specializes in things thought impossible.
He'll do for you what no other power can do.
Job said God moves mountains without their knowing it. "He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted." Verse 10
Sometimes our circumstances or problems can seem like mountains. They loom so big in our lives and we have absolutely no way of overcoming them, either by tunneling, moving them or conquering them. That's where our big God comes in. Our mountains are absolutely no problem for him. In fact, to him they seem like little mole hills. He can move that mountain and the mountain won't even know what happened to it!!! We need to get God's perspective on mountains.
The secret is relinquishing the mountain to God. As long as we're trying to solve our own problems or take things into our own hands, God will stand back and let us try. What an effort in futility!! But as soon as we come to the end of ourselves and give things over to God, that's when he steps in and begins to move things.
Zechariah, the prophet, gave a prophetic word to Zerubbabel, who was rebuilding the temple. They were facing seemingly insurmountable problems and opposition. Zechariah said, "What are you, O mighty mountain? You will become level ground." How was this going to happen? "Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty." Zech. 4:6-7. If we can solve our own problems we don't need God. But when things are mountain high and we cannot see a way out, over or under, God can move the mountain. He can make the ground level before us.
What is your mountain? Give it God and watch him flatten it!!
