Give Him What You Have
Today's devotional come from Mark 8 and it is a simple thought, "give him what you have".
Too often times we feel like we have nothing to offer God or what we have is too little and not significant. As we read through Mark 8 however, we discover a great principle. That principle is this, that if we just give Him what we have He can turn it into more. Sounds so simple and that's because it is.
In Mark 8 Jesus is moved with compassion on the crowd because they have stayed with Him all day and none of them had food. He did not want to send them away as they might grow weary and tired on their journey home. The disciples quickly realize that their seven loaves of bread is not going to be nearly enough to feed the thousands that are there and this begins the instruction time from Jesus.
Mark 8:6 says, and Jesus "directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves, and having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and they set them before the crowd". Verses 8-9 state, "And they ate and were satisfied. And they took up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full. And there were about four thousand people. And he sent them away". Jesus took the little they gave Him and He turned it into enough to feed 4000 people with leftovers!
Look how this principle plays out. If we are willing to give God what we have, even if it does not seem like much He will:
1. Take what you have
2. Bless what you give Him
3. Break what you have - multiplying it
4. Give back to you what you gave Him
5. Now you have more than what you started with and you can give it away.
Just give Him what you have!
We need to stop looking at what we don't have and start looking at what we do have. We will then be able to give Him something to work with. We need to stop looking at our broken marriage and understand at least we have a broken marriage to give Him, and give it to him. We need to stop looking at the thousand dollars we don't have and start looking at the hundreds we do have, and give it to him! It is only when we give Him what we have that He has something to work with.
So how about it today, what do you have to give Him? If you give Him what you have it will be the best investment you will ever make.
