Bible Reading - Exodus 8, Luke 11, Job 25-26, 1 Corinthians 12
Everyone is Important
I love reading the Bible because not only does it give me hope for every area of life and instructions on how I can succeed but every time I read it it makes me feel important. I am sure we have all been in a group of people, a team or some other time of gathering where we have felt less then important. When this situation arises it touches the insecurity in all of us and leaves us asking the question, "where do I fit in"?
As a Christ follower who reads the Bible every day I have come to realize that all though people should never have this feeling amongst believers they often do. Today in 1 Corinthians 12:14-26 we can all find great encouragement knowing that everyone has a part if they are a part of the Body of Christ. Look at verses 16-17 for instance, "And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell"? These two verses show us very clearly how important it is for each part of the body to know its part and do its part. If as a member of the body we decide not to be the ear or nose we are, then the body does not live a full and complete life.
This is obviously speaking of the body of Christ and how each one of us as a member makes up that whole body. Through the analogy we see that each of us has a part to play and that everyone is important. It even goes on to say in verse 23, "and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor...". This once again shows me that even in times when we do not feel as important that God will come along and encourage us and show us how important we are. When we are having inadequate feelings and feelings that we are not important we need to make sure we lean on the other members of the body and allow them to hold us up and encourage us. We also need to turn to go to the Creator and bring him our inadequate feelings and allow Him to speak life into us and remind us of who we are in Him.
Today if you are wondering your place or feeling a little down or inadequate, be encouraged by 1 Corinthians 12 and know that you have a part and that your part is very important. Know that today if you are not being the best member that you can be then none of us can fulfill our complete purpose. 1 Corinthians 12:26 says, "If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together". All of us together as different parts making up one body have the ability to build each other up or tear each other down, we have the ability to keep each other back or move each other forward. So lets realize that we are all important and be the best us we can be for the Body of Christ and the Kingdom of God.
