He Is So Amazing

I'm not sure what kind of teaching the teachers of the law in the time of Jesus were doing but whatever it was, when Jesus began teaching the people they immediately noticed the difference. The scripture in Mark 1 says the people were amazed!! Why were they amazed? Jesus taught them as one having authority. It sounds to me that the teachers of the law weren't quite sure about what they were teaching.

This same chapter says the people were "so amazed" after Jesus cast a demon out of a man. They asked each other "What is this? A new teaching -- and with authority! He even gives orders to evil spirits and they obey him."

The things that Jesus taught are still available to us today because Jesus became The Word made flesh. John 1:1-5. All we have to do is pick up our Bible and as we read the same Jesus who spoke amazing things to the people of his day will still speaking amazing things to us. As we hide God's Word in our hearts the Holy Spirit will use that to speak to us. I have often experienced that just when I needed encouragement, direction or comfort, the Holy Spirit will direct me to a certain portion of Scripture or will quicken a particular word to my heart. Amazing!!

In Mark 1:40 a man with leprosy came to Jesus and begged Jesus to cleanse him. Jesus was filled with compassion and reached out his hand and touched the man. Jesus is still filled with compassion for mankind and reaches out in compassion to cleanse us from the leprosy of sin. All we have to do is ask!! Amazing!! Romans 1 documents some of the sins of mankind. It's a pretty broad spectrum. Some of the sins listed we were/are all guilty of: arrogance, envy, gossiping, boasting, being heartless. It boggles my mind that people are guilty of inventing ways of doing evil!! But the hand of Jesus is reaching out in compassion to all of us, to the world, to cleanse us of sin and make us whole. I it that amazing, that no matter what sins we have been or are guilty of, Jesus, with compassion and love, reaches down to justify us -- to make us "just as though we have never sinned!! Amazing!
