Today's Bible Reading - 2 Kings 14, Ezekiel 4, 2 Corinthians 12-13
Boast In Your Weaknesses - (2 Corinthians 12)
What a crazy thought, why would anyone boast in their weaknesses? Paul begins 2 Corinthians 12 talking about how he could boast about being caught up in the third heaven, something worth boasting about for sure. Yet, Paul says no way, instead he boasts in his weaknesses. This is the man that under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote two thirds of the New Testament, someone we can learn from for sure.
The reason why Paul chooses to boast in his weaknesses is found in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 " Each time He said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That's why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
This Sunday Ben made this statement about the miracle that took place in Luke 9:10-17, "the miracle was not in the taking or the blessing, the miracle was in the breaking". The power of Christ was seen in the breaking of the bread and fish. As I read the Bible Reading today I could not help but remember that statement. What is Paul boasting about? He is boasting about the breaking, for it is in the breaking that the grace of God comes upon our lives and the power of God can be seen so clearly.
1 Corinthians 1:27-28 tells us that God has chosen to use the weak things of this world to shame the strong. When His grace and power flow through an individual that is weak or broken He is the one that receives all the glory. People look at that person and the situation and think, "that had to have been God".
Are you weak? Are you broken? Take delight in your weakness and brokenness today, for it is in that that you find grace and His power at work in you and through you!

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 is such a powerful scripture, it changed my life the Christmas of 2007.
How can we complain about anything after reading that scripture. So what if we are not the smartest, the best looking people, the richest, the healthiest, the ones with the most friends. So what if we are lonely, sad, depressed, mad, nothing really matters... in reality all of the areas where we lack are the areas where He can work on us. Plus His grace is all we need, nothing else, that's just crazy to me.
Thanks for sharing Katie?? I don't know who wrote this blog but is sounds like Katie.
Yes that was me Jo :)
I am so grateful for His grace, it truly is sufficient for us!
