Daily Bible Reading Plan - 1 Samuel 20, Isaiah 64, Matthew 9
Wait... (Isaiah 64:4)
The other day we had a devotional about persistence and today I find my self focusing on the word wait in verse 4 0f Isaiah 64. Although none of us truly like to wait for anything, I think persistence and waiting go hand in hand at times.
There is an old ketchup commercial that uses the phrase, "good things come to those who wait". In one of the commercials it shows a guy at the top of a building opening a ketchup bottle putting it sideways on the ledge and then going to the bottom of the building out on the street. He has a hot dog in his hand and he stands there and waits for the ketchup which he catches with the hot dog.
What made the wait for this guy so worth it? It was not the fact that he was waiting but rather what he was waiting on. This is what is taking place in today's passage (well not the ketchup part). The picture is of a people who are waiting for something specific and something awesome. The previous verses mention things about God's wonderful works. Then it talks about His awesome presence. In verse 4 it then states that there truly is no other God besides Him..."who acts for those who wait for Him". WOW, good things come to those who wait on the God of the universe!!!!
The principle today is this. Do not wait on something but wait on Someone. Stop waiting on the pay raise, wait on Him. Stop waiting for that perfect person to come into your life and wait on the perfect person who created your life. Stop waiting on the answer to your question and wait on Him for he can answer all your questions. It is time to shift your waiting and wait on the One who does and will answer you.
The wait here is similar to the devotional we did on persistence in that the original word displays that it is a continual waiting. We wait and wait and wait and wait. As we continue waiting on Him, He will answer and answer in due time.
What is it you are looking for today, because good things come to those who wait on God.

It seems like perseverance is the lesson for the last few blogs. We ask, and ask, and ask. And we wait, and wait, and wait.
I will be waiting, and asking, learning the lesson of persevering and reaping the blessing from it. Good blog
