Inquire of the Lord (1 Samuel 23:2, 4)

Every day we face circumstances that cause us to question what we should do, how we should respond to that person or situation. Whether it is at work or home, with friendships or our family we have opportunity time and again to question what step to take next.

I know for me when I find myself in situations that I am unfamiliar with and am not sure what to do I naturally go to my husband or my mom to get advise. Maybe for you it is that best friend or family member. For others it is the hairdresser or in some cases the bartender. We look for someone to tell our story to, someone that will sympathize with us and will tell us what to do.

As I read about the life of David I see that he faced many situations in which he did not know what to do next. Here in 1 Samuel 23 we see David in that place twice and what did he do? One thing, he inquired of the Lord. He did not turn to one of the six hundred men that were with him, he turned to the Lord. Each time he asked the Lord a question he received an answer. With each answer David did exactly as instructed and saw the positive results of following that instruction.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." David trusted God, he knew that the only one that can see the beginning of a thing to the end is Him. God knows what no family member, friend, hairdresser or bartender will ever know. He sees where your path began, where it ends as well as every twist, turn and pothole in between.

So as you head down your path today I encourage you to inquire of the Lord often. He will give you the best advice you will ever receive. He will guide you and direct you. He will help you and protect you. He is ready and waiting to give you the answers to the questions that weigh heavy on your heart. He is ready to show you the next step. So trust in Him today and allow Him to "make straight your path".

Great blog Katie, a good reminder that He knows all things if we would take the time to trust Him.
