Daily Bible Reading Plan - I Samuel 24, Jeremiah 1, Matthew 12
I am...? (Jeremiah 1:6)
I believe that one of the great challenges we face in our life is discovering our identity and being conformable with who we are. So many times we have a misconception of who we are and therefore we do not understand what we are capable of. Other times our identity has been formed by what people have said about us or what we have said about ourselves.
When this happens we not only have the wrong image of who we are but we have the wrong perception of what we can do. This happens sometimes to the degree that even if God steps in and tells us He wants us to do something, we do not believe we can do it. Here in the Jeremiah 1:6 we see this exact thing taking place. God told Jeremiah that He wanted Him to be the the voice of the nation of Israel. When Jeremiah herd this his reply was, I am to young so therefor I do not have a voice so I cannot possibly do what you are asking me to do. Or in other words, I have a wrong view of myself, therefor I cannot do what you want me to do.
The enemy would love for us to live our lives like this. He would love for us to not fulfill the destiny and the dream that God has put in us simply because we have the wrong view of who we are. There are times when you fill like you cannot accomplish something because you do not know who you are. It is ok to take inventory on your life from time to time and ask the question, "who am I", but at the end of the day you must resolve that question or you can never move forward to what God is calling you to.
The best way to answer the question, "who am I", is by reading the Word of God (Bible) and discovering what it has to say about you. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21 that we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. It says in Romans 1:16 That in the Bible the righteousness of God is revealed. We can simply say it this way, that because I am the the righteousness of God I am revealed more and more everyday as I read the Bible. Although Jeremiah did not have the Bible like we have it today, when you read chapter 1 of Jeremiah you see that God Himself spoke to him and told him who he was.
How about you? What things do you not feel like you cannot accomplish or do? Maybe it is time you have God renew your identity through His word so that you can rise up and live the dream and destiny He is calling you to.
