Hide and Go Seek (Isaiah 55:6)

Growing up with 3 older brothers had its pluses and minuses. One of the greatest pluses was playing hide and go seek in our big house. For me the thrill of the game is not just the looking part or the being found part. It is the part of the game where you have been looking for a while but you have not found them yet then all of a sudden you realize you are very very close as you look at the big heap of covers on the bed. For whatever reason I would always start talking out loud at this point. I would say stuff like, "oh I wonder where they are at, could they be in the covers".

Although in this game you are looking and seeking the whole entire time for them, it seems to me that there are times when you look harder and you begin to talk out loud (common, I am not the only one). It appears that this is the way it is in our relationship with God as well. In Isaiah 55:6 it says, Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon him while He is near." This verse shows me that while we should seek God every day and call upon Him all the time, there are actually times when He is more near to us. It is almost as if God will show Himself for a moment or say, "Hey, I am over hear". In those moments we should call and seek Him more fervently.

As I am seeking God this morning I feel that we are in one of those seasons He is very near. I feel that as the Body of Christ we need to spend extra time calling on Him and looking for Him. Let's make this an exciting summer of hanging out and building relationships especially with Him. A summer of seeking Him and calling out for Him.

How Do you seek Him and How do you draw near to Him? The best way I have found is to read the Bible more and spend more time in prayer and then pray a little more. Then every once in a while spend some time fasting as well.

So how about it, lets make this a summer of prayer and spending time with God and building our relationship with Him, He is waiting for you to find Him!

I liked how it kept emphasizing listening...listen and give ear...incline your ear. It seemed like Issiah also had a theme of listening to the Lord while He is near.

So true Mel and what a great point. We definitely need to spend more time listening to God. The Bible says he who has an ear let him hear what God is saying.
