The other night I wanted to cook something special for my family. As I was thinking about what I wanted to cook I remembered one of my favorites from a restaurant I used to valet at. That yummy favorite dish was “Lemon Caper Chicken”.
So… Lemon Caper Chicken it was. Thanks to the internet finding a recipient for this dish was easy. The hard part was finding the one I really wanted. Once I found it I quickly wrote down all the ingredients and jumped on the trolley with my daughters to get them.
When I arrived back home I began making the delicious dish. I got to the part where I was to make the lemon caper sauce and the instructions got more detailed. It says, “Sprinkle the cubed butter into the boiling sauce. Swirl and shake the pan vigorously to dissolve the butter, thus thickening the sauce. The butter must never come to rest, or the sauce will separate and become oily.”
When I read this God spoke to me so clearly (yes I know I am crazy but I need Him to speak to me through food). You see this is the way life often is as a Christ Follower. God continues to put a little bit of His presence or what Christians call His anointing in our lives. This happens on a daily basis as we spend time reading the Bible or talking to Him in prayer.
The Bible says in Isaiah 61:1, “…the Lord has anointed me to bring good news…” What the Bible is saying is that God is putting His presence in our life much like I put the butter in the sauce. It does not happen all at once but gradually. He keeps adding more and more of His presence as we spend more and more time with Him. What we must understand is that He puts His presence in our lives for a purpose and that purpose is to touch other people.
To often times though we allow His presence to just sit still in our lives and when this happens we begin to separate just like the butter from the sauce and we are ineffective and become oily. God is so good though that He will come and begin to swirl and shake our lives vigorously so that we can have thick, rich, healthy lives that are helping others every day.
So the moral of the “Lemon Caper Chicken” is this. The next time you feel a little shaken up and swirled around maybe its God shaken and swirling you. Maybe He is doing this because He wants you to be effective in your community and touch someone’s life so that you do not just sit there and become oily.
Thanks for listening
Dream Big

Wow that was really good... I will pray God starts using other things to speak to you because if he keeps using food you'll end up gaining that weight you lost back and we can't let that happen =D
