Skeletons in the closet

|
Remember when you were little (or maybe now) and your mom told you to clean your room and you would go in and push stuff under the bed and then stack it up in the closet. I have discovered something tragic about this. If we don't change this habit it transfers over into other areas of our life when we get older. You see sooner or later mom is no longer going to be the one telling you to clean your room but rather it will be God and it will be your life He is telling you to clean. What do we do - oh yes of course we stuff all our junk or skeletons in the closet.

We have all heard the old saying "Skeleton in the Closet" or heard someone say I have a skeleton in the closet (at least I you have). Anywho! Whether our life before Christ or since we have become a Christ follower we have all blown it once or twice (or in my case 100 or 200 times) but either way it seems like what we do sometimes is we try to hid it in a closet.

There are sever things wrong with hiding a skeleton (or that mistake) in the closet.
1) We need that closet sooner or later and when we open it up - bam there it is!
2) You are going to eventually run out of closet space
3) Even if you don't open the door the stench is still going to be there
4) Someone is going to want you to "Face that skeleton".

Skeletons don't belong in closets they belong six feet deep in a box and buried. The problem is that this requires work. Ah yes that beloved thing we call work. You know the thing that requires something of us. We don't want to work of confronting our skeletons because it can be painful. It requires us to confront our issues, sins, past and sometimes even people. We would rather deal with the pain of our past rather than the pain of confrontation. But the pain of confrontation will subside and the pain of the past will never subside without confrontation. So what do we do we try to pray it away, read it away, sleep it away and even medicate it away. One thing I have noticed though is that no matter how much Citrus air freshener (or whatever your favorite flavor is) it can never cover up the smell of the rotting skeleton in my closet. No rather it becomes a bad smell of rotting citrus skeleton.

So what do we do we need to do - well I suggest you confront it because if we don't God will. Or He will send someone that will. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 11:31 "If we judge ourselves, we would not be judged". In other words if we take care of our skeletons privately God will not to it publicly.

Take Car of your skeletons.
Thanks For listening.
Dream Big!
