A Trip Down Memory Lane

|
Memories are some of the wierdest things in the world. They are there somewhere in your head but it is almost as if they had never happened. Until you are back in the place where they did.

I just spent the last 3 days On Whidbey Island where I spent the better portion of my life (age 3-19). If I just go to my parents place or my brothers new home I am fine I am just creating new memories but the minute I began to drive around the Island (the largest in the continental U.S. I might add) my mind is filled with memories of the past.

As I walked through Langley I remember seeing my first movie at a theater - Return of the Jedi, and later on working at Luigis Pizza, and the kid who threw Corn on the Cob at my car in front of the Dot House (I still don't know who that was).
As I drove down Coles Rode I remember spending the summers as a young boy at the Bowers with my brother, Jessie, Wendy and Jamie and how we would go on that really big swing (at least it seemed big at the time). Or driving down Maxwelton rd. And remembering all the times I would ride my bike to the beach.
I started to remember all my high school friends and wonder where they are at now. I remember going to my one and only high school party - The Senior Party and bringing a 12 pack of Mt. Dew. Memories, Memories Memories.

But the greatest of all of them has to be when I was six years old living in our first house on Coles Rd. It was a school day in April all my brothers were gone but I was home with my mom. It was a Wednesday afternoon my dad had just left from coming home for lunch. My mom turned to me and said these words that have hung in my head forever, "Have you ever asked Jesus into your heart". I replied that I was not sure and right there at that moment my mom helped me become a Christ follower. I remember the dining room in which it took place I remember the setting and even the sun kissed sky that day.

Every once in a while it is good to take a trip down memory lane for me when I think back to that moment on Coles rd when I was 6 years old it gives me a swift kick in the pants and reminds me of my purpose and the destiny that God has put inside of me.

So create some new memories and every once in a while take a trip down memory ln.

See you guys this Wednesday.

Thanks for listening

Hey,
I really enjoy your blog! Thanks for your honest heart and truthfulness, it is refreshing to hear someone be real. Its cool to read about real people who serve Jesus.

I am a musician, and I would be honored if you would check out my music. All music on my site is free for download. Anyway, don't want to be a pest, I just thought that I'd share.

Thanks,
-Sean
