Faithful One, So Unfailing

The verse that stood out to me in today’s Bible reading is Joshua 21:45. “Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.” All through scripture we are told of God’s faithfulness. If He says something, He will do it. I think we can put our name in that verse. Not one of the Lord’s good promises to (your name) will fail; everyone will be fulfilled.

I’m putting this sentence in the future tense because we are still on our journey. Israel had completed theirs, had entered into the promised land and had received their inheritance. We still have battles to fight and things to conquer. But just as all God’s promises to Israel did not fail, all his promises to us will not fail.

Lately in my Scripture reading I have been impressed by the many times attention is drawn to the fact that God is the maker of heaven and earth. This is found again in Jeremiah 10:11-12. “These gods who did not make the heavens and the earth will perish from the earth and from under the heavens. But God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding.” And again in verse 16. “He is the maker of all things.”

This helps me put myself and my problems in perspective. My mind cannot grasp the awesomeness of the power it took to create and bring all things into being. But the God who did that loves me and wants to have a relationship with me. When I put myself into His care, I have committed myself to the ultimate source of strength and power; there is none higher.

The Maker of all things has promised that all of His promises will not fail and every one will be fulfilled. That is something we can take to the bank.
