Shine the Light

Matthew 5:14 says "you are the light of the world". Light as we see here in Matthew 5, is not intended to be hidden. When was the last time you walked into a room where all the light bulbs were covered? Most likely you have not seen such a room. Instead we see lamps and other light fixtures placed strategically around a room so that the entire room will light up.

When it is dark out we look for a flashlight so that we can light the path and see the direction that we need to go. When a ship is caught in the fog the captain looks for the light house to know which direction to head. Christ wants you and I to be that flashlight for all those around us. Are you shedding light on the path that leads to Christ for your co-works, friends and family members? Are you pointing them in the direction that will lead to a relationship with the Lord?

2 Corinthians 4:5-7 says, " You see, we don't go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, "Let there be light in the darkness," has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. We now have this light shining in our hearts..."

The Lord wants the light that is shinning in our hearts to shine for all to see! How do we let the light shine? By the words we chose to use, by our actions and by our service for others. The light shines bright through us as we share about all that Christ has and is doing in our lives.

Be a flashlight today and shed light on the path that leads toward Christ so that all those around you may "know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ"!

Katie, I like this statement: Are you shedding light on the path that leads to Christ for your co-works, friends and family members?

It is a good reminder than when people look at our lives they will be pointed somewhere.
