Living in the Light

1 John 1:6-7 says "So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin".

These two verses show the contrast between living in darkness and living in the light. We can know we are living in the light because we are in fellowship with each other and our sins are cleansed away. If we are not practicing the truth of the word of God then we are living in spiritual darkness.

The moment we begin to isolate ourselves from those we have been in fellowship with is the moment we begin to step into darkness. Where there is darkness there is no fellowship, where there is no fellowship there is no accountability, where there is no accountability there is greater opportunity to give into temptation resulting in sin.

1 John 2:10-11 says "Anyone who loves another brother or sister is living in the light and does not cause others to stumble. But anyone who hates another bother or sister is still living and walking in darkness. Such a person does not know the way to go, having been blinded by the darkness".

"Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light". (Luke 11:35-36)

Living in the light is the only way to live. In the light we can see the right direction to go, we have fellowship and most importantly our sins are cleansed away. There is no condemnation, no regret, no fear of the future because His light shines on us.

Are you in fellowship today or have you isolated yourself? Do you know the way to go today or are you blinded by darkness? I encourage you to allow the Holy Spirit to search you as you ask these questions, allow Him to show you if there are any dark corners in your life. Let the light of God fill your whole life today. Get into fellowship with other believers and as you do this the radiance and light will grow and be so bright everyone will see and be affected by that light!
