Bible Reading - Numbers 14, Psalm 50, Isaiah 3-4, Hebrews 11
God Shines Forth
"The Mighty One, God the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth. Our God comes; he does not keep silence;..."(Psalm 50:1-2a)
Remember when you were in a fight back in middle school and you would say something like, "my dad is bigger than your dad"? I really loved that statement because it just seemed to put a little jab in the side of whoever you were fighting. It also often times won the fight before any punches were thrown because they were afraid of your dad. As I read Psalm 50 today I am reminded of that statement and in the case of your heavenly father it really is true, our dad is bigger than the enemies dad.
You see it does not matter what we are walking through or what we are up against, our God shines forth and he cannot keep silent. When you have God, your heavenly father on your side you can look at the face of poverty and say with confidence, "my dad is bigger than your dad". When you are facing a physical ailment or a relational struggle or even fear of something in your life you can say with confidence, "my dad is bigger than your dad". Knowing this is really half our battle and it gives us victory before any punches are even thrown.
When we are facing things in our life we need to get a picture of our heavenly father shining behind us and look our enemy straight in the face. We need to realize that if that enemy comes against us that our heavenly father according to this passage does not keep silent and will come through on the behalf of His children. Our God shines forth! He shines forth in victory on our behalf! Our dad is bigger than any dad out there because He is the king of kings and lord of lords.
I do not know what you are up against today but stand with confidence and know that God shines forth and He will not be silent and you will be victorious today because of Him.
