The Greatest Call You Can Make
When you face times of trouble or distress who is it you call. Do you pick up the phone and call your spouse, a parent or maybe a best friend? Do you have anyone you call? I know for me that many times in the past it has been my mom or dad as they too were in ministry so they can relate with many of the struggles I face. Although there is some comfort in calling someone in your time of need I have learned that the greatest call I can ever make is calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Psalm 20:9b says, "May he answer us when we call." Calling on the name of the Lord is so powerful because not only does He give you words of comfort but He becomes your comfort and according to Psalm 116:1 He really does here our call! He hears and He responds and His response is always appropriate and on time.
As you read through all of Psalm 20 you will discover that when we call He answers, protects, sends help and remembers all our offerings and sends favor upon you. He grants your hearts desire, fulfills all your dreams, causes shouts for joy over our salvation and fulfills all our requests. These are all the things he does when we call upon him!
I am going to put my trust in Him because when He answers He answers big time. Psalm 20:7 says, "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God". We can translate this to say some trust in their friends strength and so that is who they call on when they need help but we trust in the name of the Lord so lets call on him. When we call upon Him it shows our complete trust and dependence on His abilities and not human strength and comfort.
Today as you find your self in a time of need call on the Jesus for it is the greatest call you can ever make.
