Obedience Is Always The Best Option

In reading the first 9 verses of Ephesians 6 this morning I realize the obedience is always the best option. Obedience is one of the greatest things I continually work on with my two daughters and I always find myself saying, "obedience is not an option. I am reminded today that this is true for me as well.

Ephesians 6:1 says, "Children obey your parents... for this is right". We are all children of God and and He is our heavenly father, therefore I should obey Him for it is the right thing to do. Not only is it the right thing to do but in verse two it says that when we obey it brings honor to our parents. Obedience to God and His word is always the best option and every time I remind my girls that obedience is not an option I am reminded by God that it is truly the best.

Obeying God is not the real challenge for me but it is usually obeying those who are in authority over me in the natural. Ephesians 6 covers this as well starting in verse 5. It tells us to obey those who have authority over us as we would obey Christ. Now this is wear it really begins to hit me because if I truly obey God and His word than I should not have difficulty obeying those who are in authority over me because according to this verse we could say that the way I obey my naturally authority is a mirror image of the way I obey God.

I have met so many people that proclaim they love God and that they are Christ followers but then with their own mouth say they have a problem with authority. One of these cannot be true. If I can obey God then I cannot struggle or at least continually struggle with my natural authority and if I do it may be telling others more about your relationship with God then you realize.

Obedience truly is the best option. Whether it is obedience to natural authority or obedience to God. When we obey we are not only doing the right thing but we are bringing honor to our authority and to God. As we do this God will in turn honor us.

Obedience is the best option.
