Daily Bible Reading - Exodus 24, John 3, Job 42, 2 Corinthians 12
All we need
I enjoy creating lists. A to do list is such a great thing, there is something so exciting about crossing off those items once they are completed. Each time an item is crossed off the feeling of accomplishment grows.
One list that is not so exciting is the need list. Creating it can be discouraging because you begin to realize all the things you don't have. Then frustration only mounts when months or years go by and you see the same items on the list as when you first created it.
In 2 Corinthians 12 we see that Paul was pleading, begging the Lord time and time again saying that he needed the thorn in his flesh taken away. The Lords response to Paul is seen in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness...” So according to the Lord our need list should consist of one item, His grace!
This passage of scripture is so encouraging! Think about it for a moment, His power works best in weakness. Sweet! I have plenty of weaknesses. The key however is acknowledging that we have them, surrendering them to Him and receiving His grace. The problem is too many of us do not want to admit our weaknesses and needs. We would rather save ourselves from having to face reality. But this is just what needs to happen, the Lord is waiting for us to humble ourselves so His grace can flow.
Today I am going to do as Paul did, I am going to "take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ..." Join me today because when we are weak, then we are strong because that's when His grace and power is made perfect in our lives. Put His grace at the top of your need list today, bold it, highlight it and get ready to receive it.
