Bible Reading Plan - Genesis 49, Luke 2, Job 15, 1 Corinthians 3
What Are You Allowing In God's House?
Picture this with me for a moment. It is Saturday night 9pm and someone comes busting through your door and they are cussing and using God's name in vain. Shortly there after some one runs through your living room half naked followed by people making crude jokes gesture and comments. For 2 straight hours crude, rude and violent scenes play out right in front of you in your house all the while things are getting broken and torn to pieces while you just sit there observing it and doing nothing to protect your home.
The above thought sounds absolutely absurd and you are probably shaking your head saying, "I would never allow this to happen". Although we would not allow it to happen in our home for many of us we allow to happen in God's home on a daily basis. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 says, "Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple". The Bible makes reference that the eye is the window to the soul, therefore whatever I am setting my eye it is getting inside of me. According to 1 Corinthians 3 my body is the house of God so whatever is getting inside of me it getting in the the house where the Holy Spirit dwells.
If we would not allow certain things to take place in our house because it is unacceptable to us than why do we allow things into God's house? We do this by what we watch, the conversations we have and the course joking that we partake in. All of these things are exposing God's house to things that corrupt it and tear it apart.
Please notice the last part of this verse and what happens to those that destroy the house of God and in noticing that please remember that you are that house. With all that in mind please ask yourself what are you allowing in God's house?
