Time To Go Further
In Matthew 26:39 Jesus gives us a snap shot of what it took for Him to fulfill the destiny that was ahead of Him. It is a principle that I have thought about many times in my life and I wish I would apply more often then I do. It states, "And going a little farther he (Jesus) fell on his face and prayed". I believe it is time for us to go further!
In Matthew chapter 26 we see that Jesus is about to enter into the greatest moment of His life. The moment in which He would die upon the cross cleansing all humanity from their sins and thus fulfilling the very reason of why He came to earth. Just before He does this we see Him in the garden of Gethsemane praying with His disciples. In verse 38-39 in a moment of excruciating agony and sorrow for what He was about to go through and in that moment Jesus decided to leave behind the disciples and went a little bit further to pray. Right before the greatest moment of Jesus' destiny He went a little further and had the greatest prayer time He had ever had.
This passage shows us the principle that in order to get to the place God wants to take you, you need to go further in your prayer. All of us have a dream, desire and a destiny. Many of us even know exactly what the dream, desire and destiny are but few people want to go the distance in prayer to obtain it. We need to learn from this passage today and know that it is when we feel the agony and sorrow that we should push through and go a little further in our prayer because our breakthrough and our destiny is just on the other side of that prayer.
I believe that this is the time to go further. What is it you are believing for? What is your dream? What is the thing that is in your heart? It is time to press in, in prayer leave behind some stuff and pray like you have never prayed before. So today lay it all on the line and go further like Jesus did.
