The Sacrifice That Pleases God.

Do you want to please God? There are specific things listed in Scripture that please God. If the Lord thought it was important enough to list things that please him, I think it would be worth our time to take notice of those things and do them. if someone you love told you that doing a certain thing would please them, wouldn't you do those things? You would keep that in the back of your mind; "This will please them." I knew that my husband loved electronic gadgets, so whenever I wanted to give him a gift that's what I looked for because I knew that was something that would please him. When God specifically tells us that something pleases Him, shouldn't we make certain that we do that particular thing?

In today's Bible reading we are told specifically something that pleases God. Heb. 13:16. "And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifice God is pleased." That's not a hard thing to do, yet doing such a simple thing pleases God. Urban Church has an awesome program called First Sunday when you can bring things to give to those in need. How appropriate that this verse is part of today's Bible reading, since today is the first Sunday in December and First Sunday is going to happen today!! Giving is made easy for you. This is a good time to give sacrificially and please God. Don't just give your cast offs, but give something that you think a person in need could use.

Scripture says it is more blessed to give than to receive. if you have made giving a practice in your life you know this is true. Luke 6:8 says "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." This is such a wonderful promise and God's promises are always true. His promises cannot be broken. The more you give the more you will receive, and then you will be able to give more!!

This is the time of year when giving is uppermost in our minds; what to give our family members for Christmas, what to give to those who are close to us. Let's look outside our families and ask God whom he would have us bless this year; and not just at Christmas time but the whole year through.
