The battle is not yours

We see in 2 Chronicles 20 that Jehoshaphat receives some disturbing news, an army was coming against him and all Judah. Jehoshaphat's response to the news was to seek the Lord and proclaim a fast throughout all of Judah. As he prayed he proclaimed who God is and began to rehearse the great things God had done. All the people of Judah stood before the Lord seeking Him then God spoke in verse 15, "And he said, Listen all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God's...17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you".

As we continue to read we see that the Lord did in deed fight for them and their enemy was defeated. Verse 27 says that "...the Lord had made them rejoice over their enemies". What enemies are coming against you today? Is it the enemy of sickness, the enemy of poverty or the enemy of strife. There are so many more that we could consider yet despite what battle you are fighting today, I tell you the truth, if you will seek the Lord He will fight the battle for you. He is a good God and a mighty God, nothing is impossible for Him.

I believe some of us spend so much time trying to fight the battles by ourselves and in our own strength. When we do this we end up tired, discouraged and in defeat. However, when we get God on our side He fights for us. He gives us the battle plan and when we listen to His word and do according to it we WIN!

Today the Lord wants to make you rejoice over your enemies. Today He is preparing a table before you in the presence of your enemies (Psalm 23). Look to Him in the midst of the battle you are facing.

It's always a good idea to get our eyes off of ourselves and allow God do what He does best. Be victorious. Then, somehow by some amazing swoosh of grace, we get to partake in the victory. Thank God.
