He is waiting for you - Daily Devotional August 21st 2009

Daily Bible Reading Plan - 1 Kings 16, Jeremiah 42, Mark 16

He is waiting for you (Mark 16:17-20)

Have you ever sat by the phone waiting for a phone call after someone told you they would call you. This has happened to me a time or two and I find myself sitting there waiting wondering why they have not bothered to call me yet. If you are like me you probably even check the phone a couple times just to make sure it is working properly. I usually get pretty impatient because I want to answer the phone but I can't until the person calls. It is a simple illustration but I believe God feels like this sometimes.

Hebrews 11:6 says, "without faith it is impossible to please Him". This faith is our complete assurance, reliance and trust in Him. It is us trusting and believing that as we step out and do what He told us to do that He will come through for us. The order in which things take place in this scenario are very crucial for us to understand and here it is. 1) I step out in faith (believe) 2) God then performs the miracle or provides the answer. Here in Mark 16:17 it says that, "And these signs will accompany those who believe...". In other words first believe then all the things mentioned will follow. He is waiting to answer the phone all you have to do is call.

We must understand that God is waiting for us. He is waiting for our faith, He is waiting for us to believe. He is waiting for us to step out in faith so that He can show the world how amazing He is. Mark 16:20 says that as the disciples stepped out and preached the gospel that Jesus confirmed His word with signs and wonders. The signs and the wonders happened after the disciples stepped out in faith and preached the word. There are to many of us praying, "God I wish you would only do this then..., and God could you please open this door then... and God..." I believe that God is in heaven saying, "I wish you would just step out in faith and then I would open that door and answer that question and meet that need and do that miracle because I am waiting for you!" Change, transformation and the miracles we long to see in culture will come as we step out, believe and preach the gospel.

As you think about your life today and the things you are longing for God to do are you waiting on Him or is He still waiting on you? Maybe it is time you pick up the phone and call Him by stepping out in faith and as you do you will see Him answer because, He is waiting for you.
