Daily Bible Reading Plan - 2 Samuel 13, Jeremiah 17, Matthew 28

Come, see, go (Matthew 28:5-7)

To me the great commission mentioned at the end of Matthew 28 can be summed up in 3 words, come, see and go. It is an awesome love circle that should be happening in all those that call themselves Christ followers. We come to Jesus and as we do we see all the wonderful things He has and is doing and we are compelled then to go and tell others about it.

I love this passage because not only is the command to go make disciples out of all people given at the end, but how we are to do it is displayed at the beginning in vs. 5-6. The two ladies mentioned in this passage have come to where Jesus was but on arriving He is no where to be found. The angle said to them, "I know you seek Jesus...He is not here for He is risen". Then in vs. 6 we see the progression of how fulfilling the great commission will take place as the angel says, "Come, see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead".

The model come, see and go is throughout the entire new testament as people would come to Jesus for something and than they would watch as their miracle unfolded in front of them then they would go and tell others. This model has never changed and He has never intended it to change. We are always meant to come to Jesus, see Him transform lives and situations like only He can do and then go and tell others why we have this amazing hope inside of us. This is the plan of the Great Commission and this is how the world will be changed.

The model is flawless but unfortunately you and I are not so if the plan is not working than maybe we are not implementing it properly in our lives. Alot of times we do not want to believe we are flawed but rather the plan is flawed. Let us just settle this now...the plan is not flawed. One of three things is happening if the great commission is not being fulfilled in and through us and it is really simple. First, maybe we have stopped coming to see Jesus. Maybe we have got so caught up in ourselves, our programs and our church styles that we are not really coming to Him. Secondly, alot of times we do not see Jesus but we see a pastor with a "super star" mentality that does not bring glory to Jesus but to himself. Oh it can draw and rally a crowd but...where is Jesus? Take it a step further and leave your Sunday morning routine out... can you see Jesus in your own life? Lastly, maybe we have come and maybe we see all the wonderful things He is doing but because of selfishness, pride or fear we are not going and sharing the love of God with others.

It is time we evaluate not the process, come, see, go but evaluate ourselves and see if all three are working properly in our lives. If they are than people are getting saved and the great commission is being fulfilled. If not, than make some adjustments in your life and come, see and go.

Thanks for listening
