Daily Bible Reading Plan - 1 Samuel 15, Isaiah 59, Matthew 3-4,

Change (Matthew 3:8)

Change is such an over used misunderstood thing in our world and especially in the realm of Christianity. We often talk about change especially when it comes to who we are. "I will change or I have changed" are some common phrases we might here from someone. Although these terms are thrown around like a football at the Super Bowl they often do not hold any weight at all.

To a certain degree I think we all want to change but just desiring change or saying I have changed is not change at all. The Bible in Matthew 3:8 gives us a snap shot into what it really means to change. It says here to bear fruit worthy of repentance. In other words I will know and others will know that I have changed because I am living different than I was previously. Many people profess change such as those in this passage but yet when you look at their life there is absolutely nothing different about them.

What we must understand is that change is not something we wake up to, it is something we fight for. Depending on what fruit or evidence that is coming from your life will show if you are winning that fight. Galatians 5:16-25 explains this battle in depth and even shows the end result of good change and no change at all. As I daily choose God and to live a righteous life there is a change that takes place in me and it is seen by the fruit that is coming from my life. I have come to realize that there are things in my life that need to change but the reality is that if there is no fruit coming from that area then I really don't want to change. This is the battle we all face!

What areas do you need to change today? What do you need to yield to God? Change is good but change is tough. Choose to fight and battle today so that you can have the fruit of change and the fruit of God coming from your life. I want change, do you?

The end of this blog is like a Nike commercial =D...

When my dad became a Christian I used to tell him he had changed a lot, I never really meant it in a good way because I thought he had joined a cult. Every time I said it his answer was thank you, and that was confusing, but now I understand changing when you are living with God is not an option, it's a consequence of Him challenging you to become a better person.
